Neighbors,

Spring has arrived, bringing with it a renewed energy, warmer days, and the allure of outdoor adventures along the scenic trails of Palmer Lake.

Are you interested in volunteering and making a difference while soaking up the sunshine? Hilltop House at Pinecrest, a local residence for adults with disabilities, offers multiple volunteer opportunities, including an upcoming outdoor spring clean-up day on Friday, May 3rd, from 9 am to 12 pm. Join us on-site, dressed in suitable work attire, for a rewarding day of service. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of perfecting my kettle corn-making skills alongside my dear friend Sarah-Buddy-Caldwell and all the wonderful residents of Hilltop House. Many thanks to Katrina Tolbert for her guidance and teaching us about growing corn in Colorado.

Last week, I visited Palmer Lake Elementary School to celebrate Arbor Day, discussing the significance of tree planting in our community. Witnessing the children's enthusiasm for nature and their commitment to preserving Palmer Lake's natural landscape fills me with hope for the future. Our community is indeed blessed with the next generation of environmentally conscious citizens.

Join us on Monday, May 6th, at 10 am for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of the new trail connection bridge. Once open, the public can access the trail via Epworth and park at Glen Park or Creekside Trail Parking near Spring Street. Parking is not permitted on Epworth.

Awake Palmer Lake, in collaboration with the Palmer Lake Parks Department, is thrilled to soon begin the preparation and construction of six tournament-quality pickleball courts and a community restroom on the Southwest side of the pedestrian bridge in Centennial Park. This development represents a significant enhancement to the town's recreational amenities promising to be a hub of activity and enjoyment.

Save the date for Dino Salvatori's 3rd annual Car Show and community barbecue benefiting the Palmer Lake Fire Department on Sunday, June 2nd, from 10 am to 2 pm. All proceeds will directly support the Fire Department. For more details, please contact Dead Flowers.

Mark your calendars for Service Day in the Parks on Saturday, June 8th, from 9 am to 12 pm, an excellent opportunity to contribute to our community. Stay tuned for more information on this event via the Parks and Trails Commission Facebook page and the Town website. Additionally, starting the first Monday-Thursday in June and MAYOR’S MESSAGE MAY 2024 spanning three weeks, the Mile-High Youth Corp will work on the Elephant Rock trail. Take a moment to thank these dedicated workers.

A sincere thank you to the Lions Club of Tri Lakes for their generous donation toward new trail signs, enhancing our community trail system. Special appreciation goes to Public Works Operator, Blake (Buzz) Bloom, for his artistic work repainting the wooden Creekside Trail and Glen Park signs, improving what exists with a labor of love.

Let's embrace the magical moments of spring, from the first blossoms to the sight of newborn deer. Explore new opportunities, connect with neighbors, and extend gratitude to dedicated volunteers. Together, as a united community, we can achieve remarkable feats. Together we can move mountains.
