Public Service Recognition Week

Public Service Recognition Week is May 5-11. It is a week intended to honor the people who serve as federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees. In a country that celebrates hundreds of other “national” days and weeks, it is easy to simply overlook Public Service Recognition Week. It is important to not let that happen.

There is nobility in the mundane and, most of the time, that is what public service is about. It is regularly handling mundane tasks and duties with fairness and consistency. Be it traffic issues, infrastructure maintenance, public safety readiness, planning and development oversight. It is providing essential services that help a community to thrive. The Town of Palmer Lake employees care about the community and the services they provide. They conduct their daily jobs doing just that - handling the mundane things; because if they don’t, those mundane things might become big things and people’s lives could be affected.

Please find a moment in the coming week, or anytime, to thank your town staff for their commitment to public service.
